Sankofa Pathways is a culturally responsive program serving African immigrant youth ages 12–18 who are involved in or at risk of involvement with the juvenile justice system in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Through mentorship, guidance, education, and community support, the program helps young people navigate challenges, build confidence, and develop positive life skills.
Our goal is to create safe spaces where youth feel heard, valued, and empowered to make healthy decisions for their future. By strengthening connections between families, schools, and the community, Sankofa Pathways promotes healing, personal growth, leadership, and long-term success for the next generation.

The African Collaborative Network Youth Internship Program is an innovative initiative designed to empower young African immigrants and refugees by providing meaningful opportunities for professional growth, skill development, and community engagement. This program connects youth with local businesses, organizations, and mentors to help them gain real-world experience and prepare for long-term career success.
Through hands-on internships, participants develop practical workplace skills, leadership abilities, communication techniques, and professional confidence in supportive and diverse environments. Interns also gain valuable exposure to industry knowledge, networking opportunities, and guidance that can help shape their educational and career pathways.
We’re excited to share the African Collaborative Network Youth Internship Program, created to support young African immigrants and refugees in building skills, gaining experience, and preparing for successful careers.
